April’s Scottish Faerie Heather Box Reveal
April’s Heather Box was packed full of exceptional Scottish products to take you on a unique journey to the faerie realm! In this Heather Box we wanted to include every sense for a real deep dive experience so you could really feel how much faerie’s are appreciated in Scottish culture. The jewellery in this month’s box was a hand picked Scottish wildflower in a copper open bezel engraved with “A little piece of Scotland” around the sides - a truly unique and one off piece of jewellery for our clan.
For this month’s reveal we climbed Corrie Fee, a natural amphitheatre in Angus so we could photograph this unique box. If faeries exist, they would exist here.
We only provide the very best, most unique Scottish items in each month’s box to give a real experience of the quality of Scotland.
The items inside April’s Heather Box
-
All the contents in the box with our large Heather Box underneath
We love to give our clan a box BURSTING with Scottish treats - we usually include one or two unique food items and Scottish handcrafted jewellery. This month we also included three luxury Scottish skincare items influenced by aromatherapy, organic skincare and a glowing complexion. We also really wanted to include a drink in this month’s box so we included a big box of thistle tea.
-
Hand picked Scottish wildflowers preserved in eco friendly resin, presented inside a copper open backed bezel and engraved with "A little piece of Scotland" around the sides.
This pendant was a real jewel in April’s Heather Box. The wildflowers were collected from private land with permission and we took our time to arrange each flower inside beautifully. The flower looks as though it is still alive - a little token of faerie magic.
-
A big box of thistle tea - a Scottish staple
This wonderful box contained 10 individually wrapped tea bags for you to enjoy time and time again. Let us know what you thought of the tea!
-
Organic skincare in luxury glass packaging
These three items were carefully formulated by us to bring you the fragrance and glowing skin befitting a faerie. From left to right - we provided a 10ml essential oil roll on containing pure camomile, neroli and lavender designed to help aid sleep, a 100ml organic wild rose facial mist which can also be used as a linen or pillow spray (amazing for the warm weather coming!) and a 30ml organic meadow foam cleansing gel.
-
Soor Plooms! A sweet with a long history here in Scotland - since 1337!
We also provided a full sized bag of Soor Plooms, an iconic sweetie here in Scotland. Its taste is sweet, tangy and sour and its history is fascinating. Let us know what you think!

Rare Scottish Stories - Scottish Faerie Edition
When we say this magazine was a deep dive, we really mean it. Each page was embellished with wonderful imagery and exciting page turning information.
-
How to attract faeries and more!
In this section of the magazine (bear in mind, we don’t photograph every one of the 20 pages!) we talk you through how to attract faeries, where to find them and common tricks - all from experience. We also spoke about the gift of Second Sight - usually a genetic gift of Highland men.
-
A deep dive into Scottish folklore
In this (over many pages) section of RSS we detailed all the Scottish folklore there is to find - from the common to the absolutely absurd and where they are found in Scotland and what the local people think of them. It was truly a fascinating topic to research.
March’s Scottish Islander Heather Box Reveal
Last month’s Heather Box theme was Scottish Islander so we went all out to provide an authentic remote island experience. We went for a more historical route this month and delved in deep to what life is like on Scottish islands and sourced an authentic, and delicious, Scottish food item from the Isle of Mull. The jewellery in this month’s box was pure silver (99.9%) and sterling silver and each can be worn individually or together as a charm necklace.

Wrapped in brown paper like a traditional Scottish island delivery and tied with twine
At Heather Box, we love to go the extra mile and provide a fun , memorable, unboxing experience. Back in the day, parcels were sent and received this way. We really wanted our clan to feel like they were on a Scottish island receiving a parcel and the excitement this brings.
-
Hand picked Scottish wildflowers - dried and tied to the package
From lilacs (pictured), wild roses, heather, thistle, pear blossom, forget me nots to speedwell - we really loved including our personal collection of hand picked flowers to the outside of the parcel. This is just another way we add as much of Scotland as we can to each box. The flowers added an extra element of love and a unique vintage feel.
-
Made on the Isle of Mull - sourced from Isle of Mull Seaweed
We really wanted to include a historical, interesting and genuinely island made full sized food item to this month’s box and this company was a joy to work with. Tara, from Isle of Mull Seaweed, explains that seaweed was once a big industry on the island and used in everything from food to glass making. This delicious sweet chutney also has big health benefits. We do try and make sure the main food item in each box is nutritious.
-
Hand collected seaglass from shores around Scotland
The weather in Scotland can be notoriously difficult and we collected your seaglass during 40-55mph winds and torrential rain! We collected from Queensferry, St Andrews and Ayrshire and set them in hand crafted sterling silver bezels. The seaglass is also historical to the coasts of Scotland - once there were many glass factories lining the coasts of Scotland and they would dump the waste glass directly into the sea. Over a hundred years later, this glass has become beautifully frosted by the sand and waves.

The Island Edition of Rare Scottish Stories
At In The Heather we write our own substantial magazine to fill you with wonder, mystery and intrigue. This month’s stories featured a deep dive and theories into the Flannan Isles lighthouse mystery, the Davaar Island painting, a strange tale from Iona and the St. Kilda evacuations. It is a fascinating read and in true island form, we featured the image of a puffin on the front cover.
-
Iron Brew sweets from Ross's of Edinburgh
We have to admit… we have been very eager to include an Irn Bru flavour in Heather Box for quite some time! We included this item as it was once popular to bring traditional sweets to the beach to enjoy (a more rare occurrence these days). We have been very keen to share this unique Scottish flavour with our clan - do let us know what you think!
-
Wrapped up in tins and twine - plus two Scottish shortbread tasters
For the three silver pendants included in this month’s box, we presented them in a tin - another nod to old island life. Inside the other tin is two tasters of Scottish shortbread from Dean’s. Back in the day, fisherman and crofters would have packed a small tin with food items in to take with them.
-
Precious metal pendants - hand crafted just for our clan
From left to right - a Scottish seashell with sterling silver jump ring to attach to a necklace, a pure silver (99.9%) Isle of Skye coral cast (another way we brought an authentic piece of the islands to you this month), and a sterling silver seaglass pendant. It took us many many weeks to make all the jewellery needed for this month’s box and we hope you love these three magical pendants.
